olympics2012smIt’s now just two years until the start of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and the various programmes associated with 2012 are generating lots of interest and engagement in schools.

‘Get Set’ is the official 2012 education programme for schools, with resources, blogs, competitions, etc. Hundreds of Scottish schools have already registered to get involved. And the ‘International Inspiration’ programme focuses on a legacy for Sport and play in around twenty participating countries, with many links already established.

For Scottish teachers who want to find out more about what the 2012 Olympics can mean in their own classroom, there’s a seminar at the Scottish Learning Festival on Thursday 23rd September. This free conference and exhibition attracts thousands of education practitioners to Glasgow, and provides a forum for networking and exchange of ideas. Andy Martin from LOCOG will use the seminar to describe the benefits of the Get Set programme and attract more Scottish involvement.

The BBC has launched a dedicated website for the London 2012 Games which complements the official site by offering news, profiles of individual athletes, statistics, blogs, etc.
