The Ticketshare programme, launched for London 2012, is designed to allow thousands of children and young people to attend the games. The programme offers cut price tickets for children and young people and FREE tickets for schools and colleges. These tickets will be allocated very soon.

Any school or college in the UK has the potential to get their hand on an allocation of tickets, provided they have students aged 10-18 years of age. To do this all you need to do is join the Get Set Network.

A new initiative to encourage communication skills has just been launched on the London 2012 Get Set site, sponsored by BT. The Primary Schools Communication Triathlon is a series of fun activities devised by experts to help improve Thinking, Talking and Teamwork during a special day or week-long event. This is just one of the many resources and opportunities offered through the Get Set educational programme.

Joining the Get Set Network brings many benefits. Schools and colleges receive a London 2012 plaque and certificate. You will also have the right to use the London 2012 education logo on your signage, stationery and online. You will be in with a chance of winning exclusive rewards like tours of the Olympic Park and visits from athletes or mascots. Only schools which are networked will have the chance of being involved in the Olympic Torch Relay and all networked schools have been promised an allocation of free tickets through the Ticketshare scheme.

The global citizenship team at Learning and Teaching Scotland are actively encouraging and supporting sign up to the Get Set Network. If you would like support with your application or more information about developing interdisciplinary learning through the context of London 2012 or Glasgow 2014, please contact [email protected] or [email protected] and go to www.ltscotland.org.uk/globalcitizens

A number of Glasgow schools attended an event today run by Learning and Teaching Scotland to help them access resources and opportunities through the London 2012 Get Set educational programme. The event helped the participants to prepare and submit an online application for the Get Set Network. By joining the network, the schools will be able to take part in a range of activities and opportunities linked to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. As the host city for the 2014 Commonwealth Games, Glasgow has a unique opportunity to build on the lessons of London 2012 and begin to create a lasting legacy in schools and communities across the city.

This is also however, an opportunity for all schools across Scotland. If you would like more information about, or support with joining, the Get Set network, please contact [email protected] or [email protected]
