This year’s conference programme includes inspirational keynote addresses from Michael Russell MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Education and Lifelong Learning, Eric Booth, leading Arts and Creative Learning Consultant, Richard Gerver, inspirational leader and educator and Professor Sugata Mitra, Professor of Educational Technology from Newcastle University.

Spotlight sessions are available throughout the event as well 160 seminars over the two days. Host of SLF for several years, Heather Reid, OBE, will for the first time be delivering a spotlight session. As well as the usual two day festival new for 2010 SLF is introducing Twilight sessions; a full conference programme running until 18.30 on the Wednesday evening including a keynote address from Eric Booth, a number of seminars and the chance to explore the exhibition.

Come along to the LTS stand and take part in an activity packed two days. You will have the opportunity to speak to the LTS educational teams about a range of activity in areas including Curriculum, Assessment, Glow and technology and Community Learning and Development. For the first time we will also host Meet the Team sessions on the stand. The stand will also feature a pupil lead Glow TV studio and games based learning area.

Education showcase

The Education showcase located next to the Scottish Education Village returns for SLF 2010. The Education showcase is an opportunity to see for yourself what’s happening in Scottish education. Demonstrating exciting new and innovative teaching practice, these sessions will be hosted by educationalists and young people from throughout Scotland featuring a range of activities that will capture the interest of all visitors to SLF.

Reflecting the school’s mantra ‘we celebrate the diversity that exists among us’ and international school community pupils from James Gillespie’s High School in Edinburgh present extracts from their annual ‘Diversecity’ showcase. Wednesday 9.30–10.00

Beauty and the Beast in French, Dedridge Primary School, West Lothian

Pupils from Dedridge Primary school in West Lothian will perform in French a play which they planned, rehearsed and performed when in Primary 4.The performance illustrates how the teacher has achieved links across learning within the areas of Modern Languages and Expressive Arts. Thursday 12.00–12.30

2. The player should be able to control a character and solve a puzzle or collect items to progress to the next level / complete the game.

If you are a pupil at a school in Scotland then you can enter your game in one of four categories:

1. Primary Individual
2. Primary Group
3. Secondary Individual
4. Secondary Group

This year at SLF10 there will be a Mario Kart Grand Prix for Primary and Secondary pupils. In order to qualify you must be in the top 4 verified time trial times.

Teachers must submit a photo of a pupil’s verified Time Trial time. These times will be logged on a leader board held on the Consolarium Glow Group and blog so you can track your position against the whole of Scotland. The four fastest primary pupils and four fastest secondary pupils will be invited, with school representatives, to compete in a live race final at SLF10.
