This WOWW event hopes to identify the employment and career opportunities that exist within the food and drinks industry from shop floor employment through to the food technologists and scientists who will work for our major food manufacturers.
Moray where the event is coming from live, is well placed in this field with quality retail outlets such as Mr Royan’s shop through to Whisky manufacturing and wholesaling and retailing with Gordon and MacPhail through to food manufacture and marketing with Walkers shortbread who manufacture food stuffs for a variety of Brand names as well as the famous Walkers Shortbread.
The speakers on the panel that day will be representative of these companies.
The food and drinks industry employs approximately 500,000 people in companies of all sizes, 39% of employees in this industry are aged between 16 and 24. There is an acknowledged gender imbalance with 64% of the employees being male.
Sign up and join us on Wednesday 27th April from 2-3pm and find out more about career opportunities in this exciting field.

The energy sector is one of the fastest growing sectors in Scotland offering many exciting career opportunities for young people.
It is estimated that between 50,000 to 95,000 jobs will be created in the coming decade as Scotland realises its plans to become a world leader in wind, wave and tidal renewable technologies. In total, the transformation to a low carbon economy will create an estimated 120,000 jobs.
The oil and gas sectors continue to grow too and companies in this sector are looking to recruit 15,000 new employees in the next 5 years.
The potential for an exciting career in the energy sector is obvious and is set against the backdrop of the current financial crisis which has resulted in the some of the highest ever levels of youth unemployment.
Skills in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM subjects) will be in greatest demand but there’ll also be the need for a host of other qualified personnel including electricians, plumbers, fabricators, human resources public relations specialists and receptionists.
Recruiting a sufficient number of people to the energy sector presents a serious challenge and many national strategies are being put in place to ensure that the right people with the right skills are in place at the right time.

This will be followed by a question and answer session in which you will have the opportunity to put your questions to one of Scottish Ballet’s dancers.

MoreYDance (Scottish Youth Dance) is the National Dance Agency for children and young people in Scotland. It is a leading provider of quality dance experiences and education, encouraging young people to get creative and active through dance.
Through the Co-Create project, YDance is providing continuing support to teachers of Higher Dance at Greenock Academy, Lenzie Academy and Dumfries High School including live CPD and choreography sessions through Glow Meet and pupil and teacher zones with lots of useful resources and helpful hints.
As well as practical workshops delivered by YDance in the schools, participating PE teachers have been meeting YDance tutors every week through Glow Meet for guidance on all aspects of the course, including the four set dances they have to teach. This approach has given teachers the opportunity to discuss choreography, share ideas and see examples of pupil work.
The YDance Glow Group is under development and is due to go live later this month. As well as providing an overview of the Co-Create project and the Higher Dance curriculum, it will include lots of useful guidance and support materials for anyone thinking of teaching or studying Higher Dance. A Pupil Zone will include hints and tips on the course, with practical advice on what to wear and healthy living, plus videos of pupils talking why Higher Dance has been a positive experience for them. A Teachers Zone will include sample videos of technique exercises and set dances, examples of written work and choreography lesson plans, together with support materials on career paths and opportunities for pupils.

MoreCo-Create is looking for a logo which will represent what the project is all about – creativity and collaboration.
In June, designer Tony Dunworth from Graphical House gave a presentation on logo design targeted at senior secondary pupils. He spoke about the principles of design, particularly focusing on the role of the designer. He also set a competition brief for pupils to design a logo for the Co-Create project. Visit the Glow Scotland Blog entry, Co-Create Logo Design Challenge for more information on this presentation.
Upper secondary pupils are invited to take up the challenge by responding to the logo design brief. A number of designs will be selected for rotational use as banner logos for the Co-Create Glow Group and will be featured on related websites. The creator of the winning design will receive a flip video camera.
Use this Glow Group to find out more about Co-Create, and use the film and slide resources on this page to inform your design work.
Please note that when you upload your design, only you and the Group Administrator will be able to see it. Designs will be made public after the selection of the winner is announced on Wednesday 15 September, 12 – 1pm, when designer Tony Dunworth from Graphical House returns to discuss some of the best entries and select the winner on Glow Meet.
