Glow Scotland

Hurry – you have until 31st March to win an IPod

Are you a practitioner? Do you want to win an iPod? If the answer is YES then we want to know how you are using Glow. Perhaps you have shared materials, ideas or practice with your colleagues. You may have set tasks for pupils to complete through Glow or joined in a National Glow Meet providing a focus for your topic. ipod_nano-300x2691

It doesn’t matter how often you’ve used Glow or what you use it for, we’re keen to hear how it’s helping you and the young people you work with.

For the chance to win an iPod, please complete our online questionnaire before March 31st 2010. If you have completed the survey since the Scottish Learning Festival in September 2009, you too are in with a chance of winning the prize.

The survey sits in Glow so you’ll need your user name and password to take part and is open to all teaching and non-teaching Practitioners only. Start the Online Questionnaire here.

I have been using GLOW for a few months now and I find it very useful. It has a lot of potential and hopefully will become used more frequently within my organisation in the future.

I have been using Glow to share my lesson resources for Co-operative learning, also used the forums to find another school in a different authority and have set up a conference glow meet for after Easter, have been adding things onto my glow – calendar, star of the week etc, finding my way round it and really enjoying using it.
Love the idea of a VLE and keen to try out online homework next… :-)

I introduced Glow to our whole school last September and it is now being used in all classes from the nursery, P2 – P7. For my Chartered Teacher final dissertation I have been researching how Glow can support the building of knowledge of global citizenship by encouraging active learning and collaborative group work. We have uploaded documents containing various group’s research, recorded information about children in other countries and put in on glow, photos of the children working, discussion boards, chat and online learning logs. It has been a lot of very hard work but most definitely successful.

Really enjoying using GLOW! The pupils love having an area for themselves to post on and I feel it is a much safer way for them to communicate via the internet. I have already used it to support homework activities by being online for periods of time.

I have uploaded my first 24/7 access and interactive course (s1 electricity) and I am encouraging the pupils and the teachers in my department to use it. I hope to see the benefits of open access to these materials in the future. I am designing my new cfe course along the same lines.

I admit to being only a recent convert to Glow and now find myself dipping in to this resource on a regular basis. The wealth of ideas are there at my finger tips. Now that’s what I call sharing and best practice. Thanks for this ’starter for ten’. No more the Glow-phobe now part of the Go-Glow Team.
