I Love Glow
8th October
Tina Stevens, Ian Hoffman, Bruce Murray and myself were in the £29, 000,000, all new, Hermitage Academy in Helensburgh for Mentor Training, today and yesterday. The feed back from the two days was excellent, but one mentor summed it up perfectly, in her Glow group, which she called: I Love Glow.
The Argyll and Bute Council Glow mentors made our job, of presenting Glow, easy. A big thanks to all who attended or helped to organise this training and a special thanks to the school for making us feel so welcome. Also, I really liked the planning task which was given to attendees, on day two. Curriculum for Excellence, Social Studies outcomes and experiences, were matched to teaching and learning activities with Glow, by groups of mentors, in what was a really useful collaborative task. Any more feedback for us from these two days?

I’ve recently come across my DVD on GLOW from the SETT Exhibition and have been slowly immmersed in everything that one can do with GLOW. As a teacher of Visual impiarment I’d be interested to hear from those teachers more familar with GLOW…what can it do to support pupils with a Visual impairment? Who out there can share their ideas and strategies with me for VI Pupils.
Thanks.

Hi Heather,
at SLF this year I got talking with John Myerscough, who is involved in SAVIE (the Scottish Association for the Visually Impared in Education). He is really keen to get a Glow Group set up at national level which we are working on at the moment. That sounds like a great place to me to share ideas and strategies?

A fabulous two days. What a superb tool to use in and outside the classroom. Can’t wait to get started!
