Really interesting to get an update on Ian’s project - and also great to get the link to his PowerPoint presentation. Looks like the conference is going well. Ollie

Lots of good stuff. A good fit for Islay High school. Ian was able to address sustainability issues quite robustly. For me the biggest sustainability question is what happens when Ian goes elsewhere…..

Thoroughly enjoyed this presentation. Great to hear from a practitioner so enthusiastic about the work of the school.

Fantastic. Thanks Ian for sharing your experiences with us. I am sorry that I was not able to stick around and find out more over a glass of wine
I think the sustainability issue and very importantly, the issue of ‘anywhere, anytime’ are topics for much further discussion. I wonder how you think things would change at Islay HS if the students could have network access both at home and school?

I was hugely impressed with your presentation. Many doors were opened for the youngsters. It is a pity that the youngsters can not go on-line at home to enable them to fully utilise the resourses that you have obviously worked very hard to aquire

Thank you for your support. I was very nervous.

One of our measures of success is the how well the system stands without any particular individuals.
The next 18 months is the embedding and L&T development.
It takes a builder to build a house it takes an owner to maintain a house. I need to develop the ownership.

Home access is a huge one but what been put in place at the moment is the resouces that can be taken away from the school and its been design for that. Therefore home access on the UMPC’s is not as huge as it might be.
I think we would have develped things differently if we had home access from the beginning
But at least we know what we want to do next ![]()
I am develping a blog post around this theme and really do appreciate loads of comments Positive and the more challenging as well

PS Now I am going back to sittin gin Breahead as my flight was cancelled this morning

Hi Ian,
Thanks again for a fantastic presentation. Just a couple of questions. Do the other schools involved in the Schools of Ambition initiative have the opportunity to meet and feedback to each other? We have a few schools involved in Aberdeenshire and I would like to know that they have had the opportunity to hear about your work. Your development plan was beautifully presented. Which package are you using to present the mindmaps?
Thanks again,
Anna

Hi Anna
Thank you for your comments.
The schools of Ambition have no formal way of feeding back to each other. Though we are preparing a case study for the ed dept at the moment. That will be available on the schools of Ambition website.
The development plan was done in PowerPoint and the inking facility was used to make it look more organic and hyperlinks to the different sections
