CPD Team

Peter McNaughton of HMIE opened the CPD network meeting with a presentation and workshop on ‘Self evaluation, Improvement and INEA2′.

The CPD network was fortunate to hear from two passionate advocates of excellence on Friday 1st February.

Annette covered a range of topics in her presentation including HGIOS 3 and the Child at the Centre, Leadership for Learning, focus of inspections and, of course, Journey to Excellence.

Jim Keegans of the National CPD Team sums up his group’s view at the recent CPD network meeting.

We were asked to consider how best to exemplify the professional Standards on CPDReflect.

Here are the key issues raised:

• Good exemplification sources already in place, J2E, HMIE, GTCS, Learning about Learning and are already quality assured
• Check Strathclyde University ITE benchmarks site
• CPD network to be responsible for quality assurance
• Include all Standards in time
• The Highlands exemplification was very interesting
• Take care not to overwhelm with exemplification

If you haven’t already heard, I am delighted that HMIE has invited the CPD network to join them for the national launch of Part 3 of the Journey to Excellence.   We now have confirmation of the venue which is to be the Caledonian Hotel, Princes Street, Edinburgh. 

The day will start with coffee at 9.30 a.m. prior to the launch at 10 a.m.   The meeting will finish at 12.45. 

We have arranged lunch for the network and we will meet together in the afternoon.   Our agenda will be PRD (Jim Keegans); CPD Scotland (Con Morris); Leadership Conference (Ollie Bray) and I will give a CPD Update.   We will close the meeting at 3.30 p.m.
