I’m Con Morris and I have been a member of the National CPD team since December 2005.
Prior to joining the team, I taught Geography and Computing Studies for more than 20 years, was seconded to the Faculty of Education, Strathclyde University, to help with staff development in IT (or computers as we called them then) and was training manager for a CPD company specialising in the delivery of online CPD in ICT.
My ‘baby’ in the team is the CPDScotland project, which aims to promote online tools in the management and delivery of CPD. You can find out more on this blog post CPDScotland project links
I am delighted to tell you that the CPD Team and partners are continuing their full programme of CPDMeets (free webconferences on Glow).
The season kicks off with the subject of professional learning communities. Fearghal Kelly will talk about “Subject learning communities” which is East Lothian’s take on professional collaboration. You can register for Fearghal’s CPDMeet on Glow
This is a recording of a CPDMeet held on Friday June 18th, 2010. It features a presentation by Curriculum for Excellence with John McCann (Director of Next Practice in Scotland’s Colleges) with contributions by David Cameron (leading educational consultant). John’s message is powerfully simple; Scotland’s Colleges have been on the CfE journey already (eg from external to internal assessment) so why not invite them into the CPD conversations?
You can get more information, including links to other related material on the CPDMeet 10 Glow page
CPDMeets are run regularly on Glow. More information on the CPDAnswers blog post; What is a CPDMeet?
For the summer term, the National CPD Team has been working on a series of online seminars (or CPDMeets as we are dubbing them). These informal seminars will be held on Glow Meet and will be relatively short (30 to 45 minutes).
In the pipeline, we have contributions from Mairi McAra of GTCS, Margaret Orr of the National CPD Team, Mairi Houston of NQ Online, Stephen McCrossan of the EIS Learning Reps and many others.
First up is Frank Crawford, Chief Inspector HMIE, on the subject of Leadership and Learning. This takes place on Thursday 22nd April at 10am.
