Last week we used Glowmeet so they could tell me all about the exciting things they’ve been doing this term in their Scotland topic, show me some of their art work and writing, and practise reciting their poems and singing me their Scots songs. I was able to tell them how impressed I was with all their work.
They got to admire my cast (and also spotted interesting things in the background in my home
) It was lovely for me to see them again after all these weeks. Benefits all round.
Setting this up was simple even though the supply teacher hadn’t used Glowmeet before. I spoke to her on the phone while she was at the pc in the classroom and so she could prepare the Glowmeet and become familiar with the buttons, and connecting the webcam. It took about 15 minutes in all.
I haven’t learned how to do anything with the Glowmeet recording yet so instead I took and saved screen shots at intervals throughout the Glowmeet, used Paint to crop just the video window, and put them into a slide show on their class Glow page.
I also used Glowmeet last week to join the meeting of our P6/7 Bookworms afterschool reading group. The children were as fantastic as they usually are at these meetings and we all really enjoyed the experience.
Glowmeet’s been a brilliant way to keep in touch during my long absence.
