CPD SLC!

I spent much of Monday working with May Boyd, Margaret Tracy and Jim Reid of the South Lanarkshire advisory service. Together we ‘built’ a Glow group to help foster the professional community of CPD coordinators and QIOs in South Lanarkshire. May came up with the title, ‘CPD SLC’. I like it, it does what it says on the tin!

The CPD SLC group will use a lot of the Glow functionality to

  • provide news and key links
  • allow dissemination and sharing of resources
  • promote discussion
  • and it even takes a feed of information from the CPD Team blog and CPDFind!

I wish May and the team well and I am sure we will all benefit from this pioneering work!

Hi,

I too am working on a Glow Group for Aberdeen City’s CPD Team. It’s only a test group at the moment as it’s still very early days for Glow in Aberdeen but once we’re properly provisioned I’ll be copying it over to our main Glow Group structure.

Feel free to have a look and see what you think.

It would be great if each Authority could share what they’re doing with their CPD Glow Groups, so we can pool our ideas.

One other thing… I see that South Lanarkshire’s Group takes a feed from CPDFind - I want one too! How can I get a feed from CPD Find for my Glow Group? I don’t see a link to an RSS feed anywhere…?

Hello all!

I’ve just added a link to an RSS feed of the most recently added CPD opportunities on http://www.ltscotland.org.uk/cpdscotland/cpdfind/search.asp - it’s over at the right of the page.

The feed itself has existed in a prototype form for a wee while now - it’s been a bit tricky making it public because we’re in the middle of a redesign (of the Online Service) just now. The way I’ve put it on the page isn’t ideal, but at least you’ve got a way of getting the link now.

Oh yeah, I should introduce myself: I’m a senior developer at LTS. I do various bits of work across the LTS site, but I tend to specialise in emerging technologies.

Great to see activity on the Glow Group front. There is also the beginnings of a professional community (CPD Central) on the Glow National site. All welcome. I am also happy to help out with design and feeds and stuff so I will get in touch with you both, Andrea and Andrew.
