The CPD Team: Seeking new members

Comments: none

As you know Fiona completed her secondment in November, and John is due to return to his substantive post in June. As a result, we have two vacancies for new people to become part of this successful and innovative team. It could be you, or it could be someone you know - please pass the word to everyone you think might have an interest in matters of CPD, leadership, CPDScotland, etc.

Below are full details of how to apply and some additional information that might be helpful.

I look forward to hearing from you - and all of your friends and colleagues!

Closing date for applications is April 23rd 2008

CPD Adviser (Secondment) – two posts

Due to current members of this successful team completing their secondments, applications are invited from interested members of the education community.

As CPD Adviser, you will support the National CPD Co-ordinator to promote a high profile for CPD within the education community, including close collaboration with the Scottish Government, Learning and Teaching Scotland, local authority staff, GTC Scotland and the universities. You will research and share good practice, develop and support effective networks and build partnership working. You will work closely with Learning and Teaching Scotland colleagues to focus on the CPD requirements of A Curriculum for Excellence, and the development of teacher leadership at all levels.

The successful candidates will be educated to degree standard and will have substantial experience of the school education system. Knowledge and experience of leading CPD at school level is desirable. Experience of this area at authority or national level will be an advantage. The posts are offered on a full-time seconded basis, from August 2008 until June 2010, although a shorter secondment may be considered. The postholders will be based at Cosla in Edinburgh. An element of home working may be possible. The post will require travel including overnight stays on occasion.

For an informal discussion on the post, contact Margaret Alcorn, National CPD Co-ordinator on 0131 474 9363 or e-mail margaret@cosla.gov.uk

Application packs are available from Ruth Johnston on 0131 474 9360 (e-mail ruth@cosla.gov.uk) and completed applications should be returned to Ruth Johnston, National CPD Team, c/o COSLA, Rosebery House, 9 Haymarket Terrace, Edinburgh, EH12 5XZ by Wednesday April 23rd 2008.
