Mobiles phones: Constructive, not deconstructive

Comments: none

Sharon Tonner of the High School of Dundee has been experimenting with several new technologies over the past few years. At this year’s Scottish Learning Festival she talked about her positive experiences of using mobiles in the classroom. She’s now published her brilliant full presentation, including audio, over on her blog.

TeachMeet08 - Northern Edition!

After a false start earlier this year, there will definitely be at least one TeachMeet outside the Central Belt in 2008! Make space in your February for some top class CPD in Perth!
I think the technical term is ‘mug’, but I’ve started organising a TeachMeet technology and teaching professional development ‘unconference’ to be held in […]

Gaming to keep kids healthy

Ollie Bray expands on the gaming sessions senior students have been organising for younger pupils at Musselburgh Grammar School, and sees yet another simple role for gaming in keeping kids in school at lunchtime, eating the healthier food of the canteen, instead of venturing to the deep fried alternative in the high street. In the Aberdeen schools students used the guitar-playing game as a launch pad for running their […]

The blogosphere is beginning to become alight with excitement on the Handheld Learning conference taking place in London.
LTS’s own Derek Robertson will be leading a seminar today alongside Marc Prensky on the potential of handheld games consoles. I’d have loved to take up the invitation to join in via Skype, but the time differences with […]

Masterclass

Comments: none

I guess many of the teachers moving ICT forward in Scotland got a kick start from the Masterclass community. What some folk probably do not know is that Masterclass is still alive. Local Authorities no longer receive funding to support their Masterclassers, but the online community is still active. What is more this once closed […]

K-12 Online

Comments: none

Last year’s K-12 Online Conference was a great bit of CPD and there are plenty of really interesting sessions to be enjoyed this year.
The conference has opened with a ‘Pre-Conference Keynote’ from David Warlick… not bad for a starter! You can see the full programme here, and then start planning how involved you want to […]
